Kristi
Collins began her dance training at Carolina Academy of Dance
in Greensboro, North Carolina under the direction of Cathy Cooper Haskins.
During the summer, she attended North Carolina School of the Arts.
She performed in many dance competitions and achieved the opportunity
to dance in the 1994 Hula Bowl half-time' show in Honolulu, Hawaii.
After graduating from Page High School, she received a scholarship
to West Texas A&M University. There she performed with the award
winning West Texas Dance Ensemble and the Lone Star Ballet under the
direction of Mr. Neil Hess.
Kristi performed as a soloist and achieved many
leading roles in productions such as, The Nutcracker, The One O'clock
Jazz Show, Rodeo, The Sorcerer, The Jim Cullum Jazz Show, The Lone Star
Variations and The Neiman Marcus Tour. She also performed in several
dance festivals which include Dances at a Gathering, Dance for the Planet
and American College Dance Festival. She was a company member in the
number one outdoor musical drama "TEXAS" from 1995-2000. After graduating
with a BFA degree from West Texas A&M University, she moved to Denver,
Colorado to dance with the Colorado Ballet. Kristi decided to move back
to Greensboro in 2003 and has been teaching at Greensboro Dance Theatre
ever since. |
