WELCOME FROM THE
DIRECTOR
On behalf of the
GREENSBORO DANCE THEATRE we would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm
"Welcome" to each of you.
Our objective at GREENSBORO DANCE THEATRE is to give quality instruction with
the student's individual achievement level in mind. We feel that development of
their coordination, poise, grace, physical and mental discipline will help them
not only in these classes, but contribute toward a healthy mind and body
motivated by proper value.
Dancing is hard work, concentration and coordination, but above all--DANCING IS
FUN!! Thank you for choosing GREENSBORO DANCE THEATRE to study the art of dance.
We will do our best to make this year a great learning experience through dance
education. You may be assured that although you are not present at every class,
your child is being instructed and disciplined in a manner keenly associated
with progress and efficient dance training.
Sincerely,
Leslie Nagle
Artistic Director
WHAT
YOU EXPECT YOUR CHILD TO RECEIVE FROM GREENSBORO DANCE THEATRE
Self-Confidence
Physical Benefits
Career Options
The staff at GREENSBORO DANCE THEATRE has a mission to afford your child
with every opportunity that children of the great metropolitan centers of the
world enjoy.
How can all of this be accomplished through dance lessons? Because movements is
the most visible and therefore the most singular indication of life. It
generates health, energy, and serves as a doorway to both the past and the
future.
INFORMATION
AND POLICIES
We hope that you take the time to familiarize yourself with our policies. The information below should answer most of your questions, however, if you have further questions, please call the studio. Greensboro: (336)230-1515 Oak Ridge: (336)643-0998
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEACHER TO PLACE EACH CHILD IN A CLASS MOST SUITABLE FOR HIM OR HER. On occasion it may become necessary to move a child to another class after initial placement. We ask that you give us at least a month to make any class changes, and please trust our judgment in class placement. It is our goal to place every child where they will receive the best dance education for their age and ability level.
Regular attendance is necessary to maintain progress in class and to enable the teacher to choreograph dance numbers for the correct number of students in the class.
Please notify us if there are to be extended absences.
To keep files up-to-date, please inform the office of any changes in address or phone number.
Students must have a dance bag for all shoes. PLEASE LABEL ALL SHOES, BAGS AND CLOTHING WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS LEFT IN THE STUDIO.
NO GUM CHEWING, FOOD OR DRINKS -- OTHER THAN WATER -- ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM.
All students are required to wear a studio designed leotard, pink tights and proper shoes to class. No bathing suits, bare legs, knee socks or tee shirts will be permitted. We would prefer that girls wear a leotard and tights. Male dance students please wear sweatpants and a form fitting tee shirt. All company members must have the correct color and style of leotards, tights and shoes. ALL STUDENTS NOT PROPERLY DRESSED FOR CLASS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DANCE THAT DAY. DANCEWEAR MAY BE PURCHASED AT CAROLINA DANCEWEAR IN GREENSBORO.
HAIR MUST BE UP IN PONYTAILS, BRAIDS OR BUNS.
On occasion it may be necessary for the teacher to physically address body
alignment or position for correct technique. This is for the safety of every
child. Dance is a highly disciplined art. Please be aware that if your child is
disciplined, it is only in a manner to insure proper training.
PARENTS
PLEASE, NO WAITING DURING CLASSES. FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE STUDENTS, PARENTS WILL
NOT BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSROOM WHILE A LESSON IS BEING CONDUCTED AS
IT TENDS TO DISTRACT THE STUDENTS. PLEASE BE PROMPT FOR CLASS AND IN PICKING UP
YOUR CHILD AFTER CLASS. Please do not bring your child to the studio until ten
minutes before class time. Also, please help us by encouraging your child to
wait inside the studio for their ride for safety reasons!
PARENTS OF PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN
Please take your child to the restroom before class starts. This will help cut
down on confusion during class time. Also, if enrolled in dancing, please
purchase Tap Shoe Buttons. This eliminates problems little ones have with
keeping shoes tied.
BULLETINS
All upcoming events for GREENSBORO DANCE THEATRE, as well as special dance
performances in the area, will be displayed on the bulletin board. Please check
regularly to make sure that you are aware of happenings. We will also display
cancellations or changes, holidays and special dance days. In the event of
INCLEMENT WEATHER, we will follow the Guilford County School Board decision. If
the students go to school and are then sent home for inclement weather, there
will be no classes. We allow for 3 snow days with no makeup.
TUITION AND FEES
‘We now offer an OPTIONAL AUTOMATIC DRAFT out of any checking account. This will
require a voided check and your payment will be drafted on the 5th of every
month. Tuition must be paid by the 5th of each month. AFTER THE 10TH OF THE
MONTH, A $15.00 LATE FEE WILL
AUTOMATICALLY BE
ADDED TO YOUR ACCOUNT FOR EVERY ADDITIONAL MONTH. WE CHARGE BY THE MONTH AND NOT
THE LESSON. IF YOUR CHILD ONLY ATTENDS ONE CLASS DURING THE MONTH, THE FEE IS
